Over 80 Sunshine Coast tourism operators attended a trade show to share information and updates on their businesses and connect with over 100 Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) visitor information centre (VIC) staff and volunteers.

The trade show, held earlier today at the Lake Kawana Community Centre was designed by SCDL as an opportunity for local operators to meet with some of the new visitor information staff and volunteers and in turn the VICs team to learn of any new product updates from the tourism industry.

SCDL CEO Steve Cooper said, ”A trade show event on this scale has never been staged for the staff and volunteers in the past. This marketing initiative connects our Visitor Information Centre staff with local tourism products and services in the one place at the one time, in order to better service our region and visitors.”

VIC staff and volunteers are the frontline of our region's tourism industry and their importance in providing high quality tourist information relies on up-to-date information and good relationships
with our local tourism industry.

SCDL took over the management of Sunshine Coast Council’s nine Visitor Information Centres on 1 August 2012. Managed by 19 staff and 226 volunteers, SCDL is seeking more volunteers to help out in a variety of shifts across the region.
