Florida’s tourism sector is set to break records for the second consecutive year, with up to 22 million travellers visiting the region during the third quarter of this year. According to the latest tourism statistics, the Sunshine State welcomed 35 percent more visitors during July, August and September this year, compared to the same period last year, The Herald-Tribune reported. Domestic travellers accounted for 18.9 million of the arrivals, a 3.2 percent increase year-on-year, while Canadians made up the larger percentage increase in international travellers, with 5.5 percent more arrivals. Visit Florida chief executive Will Seccombe said “healthy” growth and the balance between overseas and domestic visitors indicates the region on track for another record year. In line with growth, travel-related employment also picked up this year, with 1.5 percent more travel position to 1.020 million, an addition of 15,000 compare to 2011. |
