The Sydney Morning Herald Sun Run – Saturday, February 2, 2013
The Sydney Morning Herald Cole Classic – Sunday, February 3, 2013

Entries are now open for Sydney’s ultimate, family-friendly sporting weekend and thousands are again expected to join in the fun of The Sydney Morning Herald Sun Run and The Sydney Morning Herald Cole Classic on Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3, 2013.

Everyone is invited to run, walk, stroll or skip the spectacular 7km Sun Run course along the picturesque Northern Beaches coastline, as well as celebrate the 30th year of the Cole Classic, with 1km, 2km or 9km swims.

Participants are also urged to dig deep and help raise funds for more than 700 charities across Australia, including the Dee Why and Manly Surf Life Saving Clubs.

Sun Run (Saturday, February 2)

The Sun Run is now in its third year and already a favourite – with more than 7,000 participants expected to register for the 2013 event.

Starting at 6.45am, the 7km course showcases the best of Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The Sun Run will begin at The Strand in Dee Why and finish on The Steyne at iconic Manly Beach with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal.

Cole Classic (Sunday, February 3)

Now in its 30th year, the Cole Classic is Australia’s largest ocean swim, with more than 5,000 expected to take part.

The 1km, 2km and 9km swims will start from Shelly Beach and finish at Manly Beach (subject to conditions) with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal, while category winners and place getters are awarded the famous Cole plates.

Race director, Fred Taylor, said: “The Sun Run and iconic Cole Classic events create the perfect family-friendly weekend on the Northern Beaches – a great mix of sport and fun.”

Early bird entries for both events close December 7.
