In the midst of recording her first EP, Twilight beauty Tinsel Korey took some time out to chat with e-Travel Blackboard and explain why she’d travel with a wolf over a vampire, and why she was told she’s deserving of an Australian passport.
e-Travel Blackboard: How are you today? - Thanks so much for taking the time out to speak with us. You’re in Canada at the moment, what projects are you currently working on? Tinsel: I am in Vancouver at the moment. I came out here to work with a trainer before my EP is released. We’re doing a lot of boxing style training because I want to do a lot more action films. e-Travel Blackboard: Boxing is a great way to get into shape. Tinsel: Yeah, boxing is so much fun. A lot of people think it’ll make you more aggressive but it is such a stress reliever and it’s actually really peaceful. e-Travel Blackboard: Have you had the opportunity to act in any action films? Tinsel: I have actually done some action films, I got to shoot a gun and be tough; I was a leader of a gang in Sanctuary, so I’ve had that chance to be tough girl and it’s great because I’m such a giving, nice person in real life and I get to go to the opposite side. e-Travel Blackboard: How’s the EP coming along? Any plans to travel and promote the album? Tinsel: This is my first EP ever. I’ve done music and acting for a very long time but my acting career just sort of took off first, but music has always been there with me along my journey. Then at the beginning of this year I was like, I need to get it done, so I’m concentrating on that. I might do a bit of touring on the West Coast - I do one day want to come back to Australia and New Zealand and hopefully get to perform there, but for the moment the plan is around the West Coast - travelling and touring is definitely going to be on the list. e-Travel Blackboard: You mentioned that you want to return to Australia, when was the last time you were down under? Tinsel: I was in Australia in 2010 and we went to Brisbane and Sydney - we did a Twilight Convention. It was a lot of fun, we had a vegemite fight on stage - I don’t know who won but it got crazy. We had vegemite packages from backstage and I think I was with Cameron on stage and we were slaying it, and it started to get crazy. But I got to hold a koala while I was in Australia and it actually peed on me and one of the people I was with was like “you deserve an Australian passport for that”. I was just you know, holding the koala trying to be glamorous and someone was like “it’s peeing on you”. We also did climb the Harbour Bridge and saw Wicked while it was playing there - it was amazing and we just spent a couple of days walking around and looking at everything. e-Travel Blackboard: You’re in Vancouver now, how are you finding it? Tinsel: Vancouver is quite a bit like New Zealand, with the landscape. I always come back here to recharge my batteries; it’s such an organic destination, it’s athletic, the food is really great and it’s just really one of the best destinations. e-Travel Blackboard: What’s the one thing you recommend people must do in Vancouver? Tinsel: When I’m in Vancouver I always go to the beach, they have awesome beaches there and the sunsets are incredible. If you get to go to Vancouver in the summer, one of the coolest events is the Celebration of Lights. It’s like a fireworks competition and this year Italy, Vietnam and Brazil are competing. They basically fly over the ocean and you can see it from all different sides of the city. It’s so beautiful watching them as they go over the water - if you come in summer I definitely recommend you see it. e-Travel Blackboard: What’s you favourite destination in the US? Tinsel: I get to go around the US a lot but my escape place is the North Shore of Hawaii. As soon as I get an opportunity, I go there. I love Hawaii, I love the food, culture, obviously the views are amazing and it is probably my favourite destination. Waikiki is nice, but in the North Shore there’s not as much traffic, and I’m the type of traveller that likes to relax. I’m a spa girl: I love to do lots of activities but I also like to relax and have a nice time and just reflect, that’s the type of traveller I am, and also I like culture too when I’m travelling. e-Travel Blackboard: And finally, would you prefer to travel on the back of a vampire or ride a werewolf? Tinsel: [Laughs] Uh, I think I would get on the back of the wolf because what if it gets cold? At least the wolf is cuddly and furry and would keep me warm. Even though vampires move faster, they’re cuddlier. |
