PromPeru roadshow to promote upscale travel

Wednesday, 12 September 2012

PromPeru is hosting interactive ‘quiz night’ events during trade roadshows in Sydney and Melbourne this October.  These entertaining events will focus on educating agents about the range of upscale travel options in Peru, as well as its cultural icons, natural attractions and the variety of experiences that the destination offers.

Moving away from a traditional roadshow ‘speed-dating’ style, the events to be held in Melbourne on 2 October and Sydney on 3 October, are a fun and engaging way for agents to learn what Peru has to offer.   Agents will be invited by wholesalers to join a table at each event.  They will then battle it out in the quiz rounds, which are based on destination and product information garnered during main presentations.

Fantastic trips to Peru will up for grabs, Peruvian inspired canapés will be on offer, and the events will end with a live music performance with the contemporary Peruvian band Novalima, who are in Australia to join the Pura Vida festival in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

PromPeru’s coordinator for the Asia-Pacific, Rosana Guinea says the roadshow serves to increase the awareness of the growing modern and high-end offering in Peru as well as the destination’s diverse attractions and icons.

“Peru is well known as a destination for the intrepid Australian traveller but in recent years there have been significant developments in high-end hotels and services which have made the destination more appealing to the discerning traveller.  During this roadshow we are working with key wholesaler partners to educate agents on the diversity of products on offer in Peru and we hope that this new format offers a different experience that will be remembered,” Ms Guinea states.

In 2011 there was a 5% increase in travellers spending over $1500 on their holiday to Peru and this is expected to increase in 2012.  Peru is also becoming more popular with Australian travelers as the first quarter figures for 2012 saw a 19.5% increase compared to the same period in 2011, also in 2011 there was a 2.5% increase in Australian visitors compared to 2010.

*Roadshow invitations are invite only.
