An essential guide to country racing:

1. Be prepared! Pack the survival kit; thongs, umbrella, sunscreen and Band-Aids are all essential items.
   
2. Bring a picnic, but no alcohol. Country races are a great place to picnic, so bring that blanket and basket of yummy treats!
   
3. Try your luck at Fashions on the Field and look beautiful in the process.
   
4. Learn the racing lingo! Get up to date with terms like trifecta, exacta box and fixed odds.
   
5. Don’t worry about the designated driver, relax and enjoy the journey with V/Line’s special racing packages.
