New Disney California Adventure Park geared to go

Thursday, 14 June 2012

The ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ is about to get even happier as Disney California Adventure Park celebrates its grand reopening this week.

With the completion of the park’s ambitious five-year expansion program, Disney California Adventure Park will premier two new themed lands, the 12-acre Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, home to the iconic Carthay Circle Theatre and venue of the reopening ceremony on June 15.

Unsurprisingly, those behind the latest addition to Disneyland Resort are grinning from ear to ear.

“From the thrills of Cars Land to the romance of Buena Vista Street, the work that’s been done throughout this entire expansion is extraordinary,” chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Tom Staggs said.

“Disney California Adventure is a testament to what we at Disney Parks do best – connecting our guests to the iconic stories, characters and music they love, helping them make shared memories to last a lifetime.”

Ready to welcome park visitors are four new attractions – Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Flying Tires, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and the Red Car Trolley – eight new dining establishments, including Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge, nine new shops including Los Feliz Five & Dime, plus more than a dozen new entertainment experiences such as the “Red Car News Boys”.

“Every component of our expansion – from attractions, merchandise and dining locations, to new entertainment and re-imagined hotels – has been crafted to add exciting, new pages to our 57-year-old story,” Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis said.

“Now, more than ever, the Disneyland Resort makes the Anaheim/Orange County region a multi-day, family vacation destination second to none.”
