With international resort experience featuring most recently on his resume, passionate hospitality professional, James Humphreys has been appointed manager of Rydges Tradewinds’ Sea Level Restaurant. “As a newcomer to both Rydges Tradewinds and Far North Queensland, I am excited about my new role as Restaurant Manager of Sea Level Restaurant. The tropical, waterfront setting overlooking Cairns Esplanade, in conjunction with our seasonally inspired menu of global flavours offers something truly unique and special to our guests. “With a strong food and beverage background - most recently in the island holiday destination of Rarotonga - I am able to draw many parallels to Sea Level Restaurant and its fantastic views of the Coral Sea. I look forward to working with the hotel’s executive chef Glenn Hindmarsh and having you dine with us soon,” said James. James Humphreys was born in New Zealand and from the age of five, lived in the Cook Islands. After leaving school he set up a tour company comprising two cave tours and an island tour of his island home, Atiu. The company, Atiu Tours has now been operating 14 years. “As part of my hotel management course in New Plymouth I worked for Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney and The Hyatt Regency in Coolum and on completion, was employed by the Holiday Inn in Christchurch.” After leaving Christchurch James returned to the Cook Islands for two years in which time he took up a role with the Pacific Resort Hotel Group ( a small luxury hotel chain) – after which he spent spent six months travelling throughout South America. After spending a month in Sydney at the end of his South American travels, James and his partner decided to relocate to Cairns. Fast Facts: |
